Advanced Course on Soil Ecology

Schedule: 9h - 13h to 17h00 

 The course SoilEco - Soil Ecology and Ecosystems services aims at introducing attendants to an updated state of the art of diversity of the soil biota and the functional roles played by soil organisms in key ecological processes.

The radio communication program "90s de Ciência", (Daily Emission Antena1 @ 10h58 e 18h58) was launched last year in Portugal by an agreement between ITQB (Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica António Xavier) and Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of Universidade Nova de Lisboa with Antena 1, supported by Novartis.

One week visit (21-25 November)

Prof. Pedro Aparício Tejo, Universidade Pública de Navarra, has been in Lisbon for one week. Long-time collaborator he came to finish some publications revision and to strength the collaboration research partnership he has with Plant-Soil Ecology Group belonging to cE3c.

Three weeks visit (14-27 October)

Prof. Ajit Varma, from Amity University, New Delhi, has been in Lisbon for three weeks to extend the collaboration with the group in general and the project in particular. He has been the one that has discovered Piriformospora indica, one of the organisms we are working with. 

With him we started the project of interviews

Kick-off Meeting

The kickoff meeting took place on the 5th of July at FCUL. Most of the team members were present and the coordinator - Cristina Cruz - made a general presentation of the aims of the project.

The general modus operandis was defined as well as the task leaders and the members of the board of experts.

The time line of the project was revisited in function of the delays in its approval.

Task 0 – Setting up the BioClub project

Achieve a high degree of work quality through the creation of a “BioClub society”, addressing formal requirements in an effective, timely and responsible manner

Main outputs of this task:

1- creating the BioClub Society formed by all the team members; 
2 - promoting the creation of bridges among the members; 
3 - defining working rules and protocols;
4 - creating the board of experts; 
5 - promoting the BioClub Society letter.
